Sebis Direct Acquires Building in Bedford Park
On August 3rd, 2005, Sebis Direct completed the purchase of a 69,000 square foot building at 6516 West 74th Street in Bedford Park, Illinois. This additional facility is undergoing a complete rehab and build out to create a highly capable additional production facility to benefit Sebis clients. Several factors contributed to the decision to purchase this property.

In early 2005, Sebis was notified that the building at 847 West Jackson Boulevard was for sale. At that time, Sebis was the building's largest tenant with a total of 44,000 feet on two entire floors. This building had been owned by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago ever since Sebis located there in July of 1998. Ownership of the building was transferred to Chicago White Tower Purchase Company, LLC on August 12th, 2005. The new owners indicated that the building would be converted to mixed use. This new configuration would include both commercial and residential use.

Sebis had a lease with this building that extended to July of 2013. Nevertheless, to ensure the security of critical client applications and to create an additional highly secure facility, Sebis embarked on a plan to acquire and build out the new property.

"A New Opportunity!"

The purchase and build out of the Bedford Park facility has provided an exciting and fantastic opportunity. This new facility and the architectural build out will provide the following features.
  • Over 51,000 square feet available for Sebis production, shops, offices and warehouse.
  • Climate controlled production and imaging spaces.
  • Over 30,000 square feet of high clearance warehouse space.
  • Secure audited key card access to three separate zones.
  • Seven fully fire rated zones.
  • Internet based camera surveillance of all areas and process monitoring.
  • Shipping and receiving in security zone.
  • Restricted access to all production, data processing and imaging areas.
  • Facility is located 200 yards from the USPS™ Bedford Park Processing and Distribution Facility.
  • Both Federal Express and UPS service hubs located within ½ mile.
  • The Bedford Park Industrial Zone is located very close to Midway Airport in a growing area of printing and distribution activity. Out-of-town clients can be on-site within 15 minutes via ground transportation.
  • A new picking and fulfillment area supporting the fulfillment, kitting and assembly of thousands of SKUs (items) is included in the new design.

The build out allowed operations to start in this new facility on June 3 rd, 2006.

Move Update Requirements to Change

More than 44 million Americans move to a new address every year. As such, it's critical that mail is processed through a USPS approved move update method to assure it's delivered to the most current address. In fact, today you must provide evidence of using an approved move update method for First-Class Mail® every 185 days.

This is about to change - as early as November 2008 the requirement will expand to Standard Mail® and increase the frequency to every 95 days. In short, a move update method must be used every 95 days for First-Class Mail® and Standard Mail®. The preferred move update method that allows you to do pre-mailing move update is known as NCOALink®. Sebis Direct offers NCOALink® certified add-on solutions to all of its services. Click [here]
